                                   Michael Tomlinson, CLED

                                   Economic Development Specialist, St. Tammany Economic Development

 

Michael Tomlinson joined the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation team in 2006. He implements strategies to attract and recruit business and industry to St. Tammany and to support and retain existing businesses.

​

Prior to STEDF, Michael conducted background investigations for national security clearances through the United States Investigation Services. Michael also spent a significant amount of time at CLECO, serving in many different capacities between 1981 and 1998. He began as an engineering assistant and continued to take on new responsibilities as a risk management analyst, an economic development specialist, a commercial and industrial project manager, and finally a supervisor of commercial and residential project management and sales.

In 2011, Michael completed the Louisiana Industrial Development Executives Association’s (LIDEA) Economic Developer Courses and received LIDEA’s Louisiana Economic Developer Certification. He has also received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Louisiana State University, attended Tulane University for computer information systems education, and earned several graduate-level credit hours at the University of New Orleans in technology management.

Michael served four years in the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of 3rd Class Petty Officer. He worked as an Ocean Systems Technician in the area of Anti-Submarine Warfare.

​

​Michael is a 1996 graduate of Leadership St. Tammany and a member of the Abita Springs Friends of the Park and the American Legion.
